Shades of my 21st Birthday

Everything was in place. We ran into each other two nights earlier at the local corporate coffee shop. We had a fun conversation. We chatted comfortably and naturally. Sure we are not perfectly compatible, but at least we have some things in common. We talked about sushi; she knows of a restaurant that has a nice sushi bar that gets fresh fish delivery by air on Tuesdays and Fridays. We chatted a little more. She asked about my work, and I asked about hers. We finally were asked to leave because the shop was closing. We decided to meet Friday at the restaurant after 7:30 on Friday. She works until about that time just down the street, so that made sense. She would call if she was getting off earlier, as I would be able to met earlier if she could.
Friday evening came and I wondered if we should meet at 7:30 or 8. I called a little before 7:30, but the call was not answered, so I set about to complete a few errands, went to the bookstore and found a book about Brother Andrew and his mission to the Middle East (more on that after I read it), and then went over towards the restaurant. By the time 8:30 rolled around, I called again. I left another message, equal to the first, open and congenial yet curious.

But, well, I was hungry, and they were serving fresh yellow-tail tuna from Japan. It was really good. I’ll likely be going back next Friday. I mean, who knew that there was good sushi in the Four Corners area?

She HAS to have had a psychotic break.
Run, but not too fast, just in case
there’s a better explanation.

Be sure to remind us of your 21st birthday. Oh, and include names, please. Complete given names if you would, along with last known whereabouts.

That’s funny! I don’t know if I’ll get punked! again, but I don’t know. And maybe somebody I know will, and I can write about that…

As to the 21st, it was the last day of a term, we had made a date, and then she disappeared- not even her mom seemed to know where she had gone. She did not know it was my birthday, and I did not know until later that she hadn’t been on a date since her fiancee died in a car accident a few months earlier.

[…] On the way home from the office tonight, i stopped by a sushi place I hadn’t tried yet.  I had been hungry for sushi ever since Dr. Wanderlust mentioned it last week. It was a nice place, very trendy, full of Galleria-area happy-hour goers given it was 7:15 PM on a Thursday.  I sat at the sushi bar. […]
